HGV Mechanic Supervisor

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a HGV Mechanic Supervisor to join our Garage Services Department. The successful candidate will supervise and support the effective and efficient running of the Department at Linwood. This role incorporates a high degree of reactionary work with breakdowns and repairs, whilst balancing the planned activities of delivering a scheduled maintenance programme for several vehicles and trailers. The HGV Mechanic Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring that all work is carried out to the highest standards to ensure safety and compliance. 

Key Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Manage workloads within the Linwood Garage.
  • Planned 6 weekly safety inspections of fleet.
  • MOT preparation and presentation for test.
  • Immediate and reactive response to daily breakdowns (both mechanical and lifting equipment related) and smaller running repairs when necessary.
  • Local travel to attend fleet in and around the Linwood area for breakdown and roadside repairs. 
  • This is not an exhaustive list.  You may also be required to carry out any other duties as required by the business that you are qualified/trained in that meet the requirements of this role.

The right candidate will demonstrate:

  • Excellent time keeping and prioritisation skills 
  • A good understanding of health and safety, always promoting a healthy & safe environment
  • Physical dexterity: the role is very “hands on” and requires a level of physical fitness.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Experienced HGV mechanic; a minimum of 5 years’ mechanic experience working on various vehicle types
  • Experience of trucks and trailers 
  • Experience of waste recovery vehicles would be advantageous but is not mandatory. 

Salary and Benefits:

  • Up to £45,000 - £50,000 per annum
  • 45 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday 
  • Overtime opportunities available
