CIWM Visit Enva Portlaoise

| On Wednesday 28th February, CIWM Republic of Ireland held a meeting at the Heritage Hotel in Portlaoise, which was followed a site visit to the Enva Portlaoise facility. |

| At the meeting, which was sponsored by Enva, delegates were given two presentations. Declan Ryan, Managing Director of Enva gave a presentation entitled ‘Increasing Alternative Waste Recovery in Ireland.’ This presentation gave delegates an overview of existing Enva operations, before focussing on Enva’s activities in terms of waste treatment and recovery, through both its research & development capabilities, as well as a case study on the Enva Shannon facility. |

| Gareth Kelly, HSE & Compliance Director of Enva gave a presentation entitled ‘Implications of Proposed Waste Framework Directive – A Private Sector Perspective’. This presentation looked at issues such as why is there a new Directive proposed, why it is important and when will it impact. |
