History
| Enva can trace its history back to 1972, when Atlas Waste Oil was set up to collect waste oil primarily from the automotive industry, making it the longest standing hazardous waste management company in Ireland. The existing waste facility, located in Portlaoise, was established in 1978 initially only to process waste oil. |
| In 1987, the company was purchased by Irish sales marketing and business support services group DCC plc, and between 1988 and 2000, services grew to include; Industrial and Automotive Services; Field Services; Environmental Products and Emergency Response. |
While already operating in Northern Ireland, In 1994, DCC acquired Capital Oils in Northern Ireland. Established in 1974, this company operated a waste oil processing facility in Drumaness, Co. Down. Capital Oils was subsequently re-branded to Atlas Environmental (NI) in 2002.
In 2000, our facility in Portlaoise was awarded the first and only license for off-site treatment of petroleum contaminated soil by the EPA.
| As part of DCC’s ongoing expansion of DCC Environmental, Cork based water and effluent treatment firm Envirotech, was purchased in 2001. This company, operating largely in Ireland, but with a small UK presence, provided a comprehensive range of waste water treatment products, as well as specialising in diagnosing and solving waste water operating problems or inefficiencies. |
| In January 2003, a further acquisition brought Shannon Environmental Services on board. This company is based in Shannon, SES is one of the most important waste treatment facilities in providing key hazardous waste infrastructure in Ireland, and supports all industrial and manufacturing sectors throughout Ireland. The Shannon facility offers a range of Physico-Chemical and Biological treatment & disposal options. |
| In May 2006, we opened a new licensed facility in Dublin to help us serve the ever expanding Dublin market. |
As the business has grown organically and through a series of acquisitions, in June 2006, the decision was taken to re-brand all businesses under one new name and logo – Enva.
